organized by invest shenzhen and co-organized by oxford university innovation, the "shenzhen—oxford innovation and entrepreneurship exchange conference" was successfully held at the university of oxford on september 12. more than 70 representatives from the british cultural centre and overseas students attended the conference.
dr. david baghurst, head of oxford university innovation (hong kong) ltd., delivered an opening address saying that the university of oxford prioritizes its cooperation with shenzhen and voiced his hope that local universities can allocate their research resources so as to match shenzhen's innovation and entrepreneurship environment and put research findings to industrial use as soon as possible. invest shenzhen expressed its intention to strengthen its cooperation with the university of oxford to introduce more resources of the renowned university to shenzhen and welcomed all professors and overseas students to start a business in the city. invest shenzhen introduced the city's policies on scientific and technological innovation and the "peacock plan," a program aimed at foreign high-level talent. the city spends more than rmb10 billion and rmb1 billion, respectively, each year to support scientific and technological innovation and talent projects.
the conference attracted many enterprises, professors and overseas students. shenzhen's favorable innovation and entrepreneurship environment along with its package of supportive policies were acknowledged by all attendees. representatives of overseas students raised questions on policy, which were answered by officials from invest shenzhen, qianhai administration bureau and longhua district. oxford university innovation voiced its intention to introduce more resources and projects to shenzhen so as to strengthen exchanges and cooperation. many professors and overseas students said that they will consider starting a business in shenzhen. the conference achieved its expected goals, ensuring both sides reap fruitful results long into the future.
