on august 5, wang youming, director of invest shenzhen, met a delegation led by mr. jeff astle, executive director of the china-britain business council. the visit was aimed at establishing a long-term partnership with invest shenzhen. a delegation led by chen biao, deputy mayor of shenzhen, and wang youming, visited the united kingdom in june 2016 and held economic and trade exchange forums.
officials at invest shenzhen extended a warm welcome to mr. jeff astle and expressed their gratitude for his efforts and those of his team in boosting bilateral cooperation between the uk and shenzhen and suggested both parties deepen collaboration. invest shenzhen will introduce quality companies and projects from competitive industries in the uk such as finance, cultural creativity, advanced manufacturing, energy conservation and environment protection, high-tech, life science and education.
mr. astle acknowledged mr. wang's proposals and expressed his intention to deepen cooperation with shenzhen, including integrating project resources of the china-britain business council with those of invest shenzhen, leading a team to visit shenzhen during the china hi-tech fair, promoting the signing of a cooperative agreement on the grapheme academy project and encouraging british companies that have invested in hong kong to do likewise in shenzhen.
director wang suggested that british companies should first set up a foothold in shenzhen before expanding into markets across china and expressed his intention to deepen cooperation in economics and trade, science and technology, and culture. they also exchanged ideas on solidifying the achievements made during the china hi-tech fair, proactively introducing major projects and setting up a more direct channel for communication and exchanges between shenzhen and the uk.
