on may 13, 2016, the china (guangdong) – u.s. (new york) economic and trade cooperation conference, sponsored by the guangdong provincial government, was successfully held in new york city. hu chunhua (member of the political bureau of the cpc central committee, secretary of guangdong provincial party committee) led the guangdong delegation on a visit to the usa. he gave a speech on "deepening mutually beneficial cooperation for a better future" at the seminar. also in attendance were cui tiankai (chinese ambassador in the usa), patrick santillo (deputy assistant secretary of the u.s. department of commerce) carey hockel (lieutenant governor of new york) xuqin (mayor of shenzhen), bo mailun, (guangdong province governor adviser and executive vice president of the us national chamber of commerce), as well as zhang qiyue (consul general of the china consulate general in new york).
invest shenzhen signed cooperation agreements with qualcomm and intel. qualcomm will set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in shenzhen, mainly carrying out research and development of wireless communications technology and providing better services and support for various intelligent device manufacturers in shenzhen.
in addition, qualcomm will set up rmb investment funds in shenzhen. the fund size of the first phase is expected to exceed more than 0.1 billion rmb. the funds are committed to supporting new technology enterprises with development potential. intel plans to set up a r&d center in shenzhen and strengthen technical support to local cooperative partners. intel plans to invest more than $50 million in r&d every year, and strengthen the cooperation with shenzhen in various fields such as intelligent devices, cloud computing, life and health, and maker spaces.
after the conference, hu chunhua led the delegation in meeting the steven mollenkopf (ceo of qualcomm) to talk more in depth about cooperation between guangdong province and qualcomm in the wireless communication industry field.
