on june 8, 2015, the "2015 shenzhen, china – israel innovation & entrepreneurship cooperation exchange meeting" was launched in tel aviv, the capital of israel. the event was sponsored by invest shenzhen and co-sponsored by the modern business development research center and the israeli law firm herzog, fox, & neeman, "hfn"). jia changsheng, deputy director of invest shenzhen; erez zionce, head of china affairs division under the ministry of economy; uri pachter, head of the international project department of the israel export & international cooperation institute; and yair geva, head of the china affairs office of hfn attended and addressed the meeting. over 100 representatives from different industries like internet enterprises, smart hardware, the electronic information industry, investment funds and incubators in israel also attended the event.
in their speeches, erez zionce and uri pachter introduced the cooperation conditions between israel and china (shenzhen) in the areas of trade, technology and investment. they also expressed that they would exert their advantages and actively promote bilateral cooperation in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, investment and m&a.
deputy director jia changsheng introduced shenzhen's favorable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, and explicitly pointed out that the "city of innovation" is the most representative label for shenzhen and the city is the best option for innovative enterprises and entrepreneurs to enter china.
jia further introduced in detail the "innovation & entrepreneurship express train" project. he said they were committed to "actively promote in-depth cooperation in joint ventures, accelerated incubation, joint breakthroughs and technology transfer between shenzhen's international parks and their tenant enterprises and israeli institutions, enterprises, entrepreneurial teams and r&d centers", based on the "government-supported, parks-led and market-driven" principle.
prior to this, invest shenzhen already launched the shenzhen – silicon valley (usa) express train, and is now facilitating all-round cooperation between world-renowned innovation hubs including israel, germany and australia and shenzhen in the innovation and entrepreneurship area.
in addition, representatives of the qianhai authority and the investment promotion office of the bao'an district respectively introduced the policies of the qianhai special economic zone for promoting the development of modern service enterprises and the business environment of the bao’an district.
hfn then briefed the attendants about china-israel high-tech investment cases. for all the guests at the meeting to gain a deeper understanding of the investment development conditions between shenzhen and israel, there was a special discussion about a china-israel fund express train, as well as talk about the cooperation method between the "innovation & entrepreneurship express train" project and israeli funds.
then, witnessed by invest shenzhen, the china affairs division under the israeli ministry of economy and the israel export & international cooperation institute, hfn, the modern business development research center and longgang tian'an cloud park entered into a three-party strategic agreement. the agreement indicated that the three parties would strengthen communication and cooperation in technology transfer, investment promotion network and business localized services. this marked the official launch of the "shenzhen-israel innovation & entrepreneurship express train".
the event generated strong responses in tel aviv, as shenzhen's favorable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship and the huge potentials for bilateral cooperation attracted lots of israeli businesspeople to participate. percepto, startup east, proonto and elevator found, among other israeli enterprises, showed great interest in investing or seeking partners in shenzhen and asked members of the delegation about relevant issues.
as an "innovation superpower", israel has made very remarkable achievements in developing its high-tech industry, and possesses advanced technologies and edges in electronic communications, computer software, medical equipment, biotech engineering, and agriculture. israeli enterprises principally invest in technology transfer and technological cooperation projects in shenzhen. with the launch of the "innovation & entrepreneurship express train" bringing in advanced science and technology will further expand the breadth and depth for attracting businesses and investment.
