on may 10, a china-japan ipr workshop themed "innovation, transformation, and internationalization of iprs" was held in futian, which was organized by the china innovation south ip institute, and co-sponsored by invest shenzhen, the futian district government, and the intellectual property office of shenzhen municipality. top-notch ipr experts from both china and japan, including prof. wu handong, a leading expert in china's ipr sector, gathered at the workshop, which was also attended by senior officials from renowned enterprises such as huawei, tencent and skyworth. the participants discussed the role iprs play in promoting and leading innovation and transformation.
regarding the future ipr strategy of chinese enterprises, prof. wu handong made three suggestions. first was an industrialized development strategy with industrial innovation involved in industrial restructuring, the development of high-tech industries and the formation of innovative industry clusters. during this process, iprs could play a facilitating role. the purpose of chinese enterprises obtaining iprs is to turn them into being constructively productive, and seize the height of the domestic manufacturing industry. second was the global competition strategy. chinese enterprises should have a global mindset, seeking not only to enter international markets, but also to take a commanding position in the international manufacturing sector. third was an integrated operation strategy, which comprised both a brand-centered ipr strategy and patent-based ipr operations. for enterprises, on one hand, brand building and operation was of critical importance, so it was essential for an enterprise to establish a brand-centered ipr management system. on the other hand, ipr operation actually meant commercialization in essence, which must be primarily centered on patents.
ipr innovation and financial innovation are two key cornerstones for technological innovation, and invest shenzhen has consistently attached great importance to the innovation and protection of iprs.
holding this workshop marked another milestone in the internationalization process of shenzhen's ipr sector. invest shenzhen will always spare no efforts to support activities of this type, and hopes that ipr innovation will become one of the most remarkable achievements in the city's innovation initiative.
the workshop originated from the academic exchanges between leading ipr experts of the two countries, and was attended by top-rate experts from this sector. it has been held twice on a rotating basis between china and japan. this time, it was staged in shenzhen, the chinese capital of innovation, and upgraded from a private academic exchange meeting to a high-end workshop opened to industries free of charge. this favorably facilitated the effective integration of iprs with entrepreneurship and innovation in the city.
