a delegation from invest shenzhen led by deputy director wang youming and governmental authorities in shenzhen launched a series of proactive investment promotion activities in the united arab emirates and saudi arabia between april 20 and 27. the goal is to implement the one belt, one road strategy and build shenzhen into the bridgehead of the new silk road by the sea. the visit included investment introduction meetings, meeting politicians and business leaders, plus project and cooperation promotion seminars.
during the trip, invest shenzhen sponsored the china (shenzhen)-dubai investment and cooperation promotion seminar around the theme of "invest in shenzhen to win the future". about 120 uae politicians and business leaders attended the seminar, which was reported by local media agencies including dubairen.com and dibaichina.com. the delegation also held talks to introduce the economic development status and environment in shenzhen and investment policies. important politicians and business leaders were in attendance including tang weibin and zhangyi, consul-general and commercial counselor of the chinese consulate in dubai, probir chakraborty, chief of uae ras al khaimah investment office, xu xiaoping, secretary-general of uae overseas chinese union, and ayedh mohammed, shaikh of the saudi arabian oatani family. the delegation also visited the uae new energy industry zone, masdar city and the 17th wetex and exhibitors; and a group of world-renowned companies including dubai world center, operator of dubai aviation city program, emaar properties, developer and operator of burj dubai, the world's tallest building and luxury complex, and abu dhabi aviation. the delegation also facilitated talks on cooperation and investment issues with the saudi chamber of commerce, saudi mindray, saudi china comservice and saudi byd. these activities definitely stimulated the interest among saudi and uae organizations and companies in running businesses in shenzhen. many saudi institutions and companies revealed plans to explore investment opportunities in shenzhen. officials of the chinese embassies and overseas chinese leaders in saudi and uae indicated that they will facilitate the cooperation between shenzhen and local bodies and companies.
