to further deepen communication and cooperation with new zealand and other south pacific countries in the investment promotion area, deputy director general of invest shenzhen jia changsheng met with john cochrane, commercial counselor of the consulate-general of new zealand in guangzhou and some guests from the new zealand trade and enterprise ("nzte"), on january 13, 2014. at the meeting, deputy director general jia made a point of introducing shenzhen's business environment, and advantages in marketization and development through innovation. mr. john cochrane expressed that given the solid foundation of trade and economic cooperation between new zealand and shenzhen, the development prospects between the two sides were promising. both sides hoped to strengthen cooperation specifically in the high-tech and culture sectors in the future. they also talked about introducing new zealand's "landing pad" project, launching the innovation and entrepreneurship "express train", building a global investment promotion network, and jointly staging promotional activities.
nzte, as the official trade and investment promotion agency of the new zealand government, is the local economic development institution, and a government agency responsible for foreign affairs and international trade.
