on september 23, 2014, the "investing in shenzhen for a win-win future: shenzhen (china) – chicago (us) investment cooperation promotion" event, sponsored by invest shenzhen, was successfully staged in chicago, the third largest city in the us, known as in the "heartland of america".

in his speech, jia changsheng briefly introduced the socio-economic development conditions of shenzhen, summarized the city's characteristics with the appropriate keywords and cases. he said that shenzhen is asia's best-performing city in terms of economic development, famous for its 'makers', has produced half of forbes' top 10 innovative people in china and is the hardware equivalent to film production in hollywood. he added that it is the first "international garden city" in china, and its five major features is an ideal place for modern industries, entrepreneurship, reform and opening-up, is an eco-friendly and livable environment and a place to fulfill dreams. jia spoke in detail about the city's cutting-edge industries, supportive policies and development opportunities. he pointed out that shenzhen is now at a new development stage, and constantly expanding exchanges and cooperation with chicago, silicon valley and other economically and technologically developed areas of the united states.
he noted that in the future, both sides can further widen their scope of cooperation, explore new cooperation methods and boost cooperation levels, strengthen cooperation particularly in hi-tech, modern services, and future industries, and jointly participate in the economic development and construction of key areas including the bay areas and qianhai cooperation area in the city.

in addition, a signing ceremony was held at the event. invest shenzhen and usccc entered into an mou for promoting cooperation, pursuant to which both sides will strengthen cooperation in investment promotion networks and business attraction for key industries.
the promotional event generated positive responses, as the favorable investment environment and development opportunities of shenzhen attracted a large number of people from the political and business worlds to attend the event. many enterprises and institutions discussed field surveys and cooperation opportunities in shenzhen after the meeting.
after the speeches, deputy director jia changsheng was interviewed onsite by local media including sinovision tv, sinovision net, and world journal. the original 2-hour event was extended for another half an hour. during the stay in chicago, invest shenzhen also met with navistar, bunn-o-matics, and other fortune global 500 (industry-leading) enterprises, and discussed investment cooperation details with their senior management.
