guangda-cornell china-us hi-tech transfer center (gcitc) was inaugurated on december 20 in the presence of cheng siwei, vice chairman of the 10th session of the npc standing committee; former aerospace industry department minister lin zongtang; shenzhen's deputy mayor chen biao; and director of invest shenzhen wang youming.

the inauguration ceremony was followed by the us-china innovation & cooperation conference, during which the vice president of cornell university alan paau and other guests gave speeches on a wide range of topics including innovative modes for hi-tech cooperation between china and the us, the commercialization of scientific achievements, and financial services for scientific development.

gcitc was established in late november by multiple parties and authorities including invest shenzhen. co-funded by shenzhen qianhai guangda group and cornell university with a rmb100 million investment, gcitc will explore new modes for commercializing the scientific findings, achievements, and cutting-edge technologies developed by ivy league universities including cornell university. this will be achieved via a technological transformation mechanism that includes a hi-tech incubator platform and financing programs, and a hi-tech commercialization and service platform that integrates global cutting-edge technologies.

the platform will accelerate industry development and innovation in shenzhen, guangdong and china. currently, gcitc has launched the first batch of projects covering biotech products, immune system heath care, functional health product technology, medical imaging health management center and scientific application software and systems.
