in the morning of september 25, 2013, invest shenzhen hosted the 2013 shenzhen (qianhai) financial policy innovation symposium in singapore. the event was supported by the chinese embassy in singapore, international enterprise singapore, singapore chamber of commerce and industry in china, singapore business federation and singapore manufacturing federation. around 100 singaporean financial leaders attended the symposium, including delegates from development bank of singapore, united overseas bank, bank of overseas chinese, bank of singapore, ifast financial, and china legal bureau (singapore).
following presentations on shenzhen's financial industry and the advantages of qianhai cooperation zone in terms of developing the financial industry, representatives discussed policy innovation and its role in boosting the financial industry in qianhai district. other themed discussions focused on identifying ways to construct a new financial system, cultivate financial professionals, merge the financial and real economies, promote financial consulting services, and protect investors'interests. simon li, vice president of singapore manufacturing federation and president of china economic and trade commission, and prof phua kok khoo, president of the singapore-china business association, gave talks about major singaporean companies' plans to operate in shenzhen.
the symposium was organized in response to shenzhen municipal party committee secretary wang rong's strategy of giving full play to qianhai's role in driving financial innovation.
having broadened financial cooperation between shenzhen and singapore and established an innovative mode of economic cooperation at symposium, numerous delegates indicated plans to explore investment opportunities in the qianhai cooperative zone and thus seize the golden development opportunity presented by financial innovation.
singapore is home to the world's fourth largest financial hub, and is well-known for its leading role in the global financial industry as well as its range of advanced methodologies. the suggestions given by singapore's financial leaders will no doubt help shenzhen formulate financial innovation policies and enable qianhai district to become a new global financial center.
