themed around promoting innovation in china, idf2014 was held in shenzhen on april 2. shenzhen's deputy mayor chen biao gave the opening address, and intel chief executive officer brian krzanich, intel president renee james and inter vice president/inter china president yang xu delivered keynote speeches at the conference. chen biao received the delegation led by brian krzanich before the conference, and discussed increasing investment in shenzhen and encouraging innovation. invest shenzhen's director wang youming attended the meeting.
during the conference, brian krzanich announced the establishment of intel's first intelligent gear innovation center in shenzhen. the center is designed to provide technical support for chinese oem, odm and software developers, and cooperate with chinese partners to facilitate innovation on tablets, smart phones, pc, two-in-one products, wearable gear, the internet of things, and other emerging computer products. the center will be instrumental in unveiling new products on the chinese and global markets. krzanich also announced the founding of the usd100 billion intel china intelligent gear innovation foundation to boost collaborative innovation and build a sound innovation network.
since last july, invest shenzhen has promoted intel's investment in shenzhen with the support of the municipal government, and has held six talks with headquarters in china to drive the conference and establish the center in shenzhen by inviting intel's senior executives in beijing to visit shenzhen.
the idf is an international information and communication summit sponsored by intel that discusses the latest it ideas, technologies and products. the summit is held in in spring and autumn each year. attendees include intel's senior executives, global technology experts and industry leaders. as the world's leading technological conference and indicator of it development trends, this summit attracted more than 2,600 professionals from around the globe, who discussed a wide range of issues, including cloud computing, intelligent devices, wearable gear and the internet of things.
idf2014 is the second idf event ever held in shenzhen after idf2006 (spring). it also marked brian krzanich's first visit to china since he took office, and the first idf that officials from shenzhen local government have attended. the 2014 conference indicates intel's interest in shenzhen and will help us evolve shenzhen into an international, innovation-driven city.
