the china enterprise confederation and china enterprise directors association released its 2017 list of top 500 chinese enterprises. up to 27 enterprises from shenzhen, including ping an, huawei, amer international group, china merchants bank, vanke, and tencent, were on the list, clearly reflecting the city’s industrial advantages in new and high-tech, internet, finance, advanced manufacturing and other sectors.
by implementing an innovation-driven strategy and adding fuel to the supply-side structural reform, shenzhen has created a good business environment for enterprises and continues to attract global industry giants to invest in the city, while cultivating a number of global fortune 500 companies and china’s top 500 enterprises in this innovation city. it is worth noting that seven of the shenzhen companies listed in the top 500 chinese enterprises were included in this year's fortune 500, including evergrande group, which has moved its headquarters to shenzhen.
it can be seen from the list that shenzhen’s new technology and advanced manufacturing industries have a prominent advantage and huawei, zte, cimc, byd, skyworth, and evoc are industry leaders. in terms of profits, shenzhen’s financial industry stands out with ping an and china merchants bank among the top 10 highest earners on the top 500 chinese enterprises list. this year, 27 shenzhen enterprises were included on the top 500 chinese enterprises list, accounting for half of the guangdong enterprises to make it in the rankings.
whether it is the world's fortune 500 list or the top 500 chinese enterprises list, shenzhen enterprises are particularly conspicuous, which can be attributed to the support from the city's reform and innovation policies. at present, the shenzhen’s science and technology enterprises number more than 30,000, and state-level new and high-tech enterprises total 8,037, forming a strong echelon of innovative business groups. at the same time, shenzhen has kept pace with the new round of revolutionary changes and trends in science and technology by building a number of open plan, large-scale scientific and technological facilities, innovation carriers and service platforms. at present, shenzhen has 1,551 state, provincial and municipal-level key laboratories, engineering laboratories, engineering (technology) research centers and enterprise technology centers and other innovative carriers, which has ensured a steady stream of innovation flowing into the city.
in fact, shenzhen has taken the lead in exploring the construction of an integrated, innovative eco-system, which has continually yielded results with innovation picking up pace and surging forward. in the first half of this year, shenzhen's total r&d investment increased by 17.5%, with its proportion of gdp increasing further to 4.12%; the new and high-tech industry’s added value increased 12.1%, 3.3 percentage points higher than the gdp growth rate, showing outstanding features such as "a quarterly increase, improved quality, structural optimization, increased drive, and improving trends.”
shenzhen’s support for enterprises is now bigger and stronger, while its support for innovation is even more generous. based on the relevant policies issued by the city, a shenzhen company can receive a rmb30 million reward the first time when it is included on the world's fortune 500 list, and can receive a rmb10 million reward the first time when it is listed among china’s top 500 enterprises.
