the china (shenzhen) international marine industries fair will be held at shenzhen convention and exhibition center from dec. 28 to jan. 2, according to a press conference held by the fair's organizing committee yesterday.
"the fair will not only offer an exhibition and exchange platform for professionals from the marine industry, but also enable the public to get easy access to information about the marine sector," said sun nan, spokesperson of shenzhen association for science and technology. he added that it's the first time the fair is being hosted in shenzhen.
along with the fair, a forum highlighting the development of the marine economy in china will also be held, covering various topics such as marine engineering equipment, marine electronic information, marine resources development and marine organisms.
a total of 850 guests, including governmental officials, industry experts, academics and representatives from marine enterprises, are expected to attend the forum.
sun said that china is sparing no effort in becoming one of the world's leading countries in the marine sector. "but many core technologies of marine engineering equipment are developed by foreign countries, such as the air conditioners on offshore drilling rigs, because chinese air-conditioning manufacturers have failed to make their products resistant to the corrosion that occurs in the sea," he said.
according to sun, the purpose of hosting the fair is to build a platform that facilitates the integration of technologies and products in the industry.
"china needs to develop its marine industry if it wants to become a world power," he said.
