authorities will speed up construction of intercity rail links with dongguan and huizhou cities, according to the city's 13th five-year plan of comprehensive transportation, which was released to seek public suggestions on sztb.gov.cn, the official website of shenzhen’s transport commission.
it will research intercity rail between shenzhen and zhuhai and consider building a spur line for the zhongshan-humen-longgang intercity rail, which is under survey and planning. the spur line will enhance connections to longgang, longhua and guangming with the western bank of the pearl river.
the city will consider opening sea routes from qianhai to zhongshan and zhuhai, according to the plan.
this year, the city will earmark 5.3 billion yuan (us$793 million) for transportation infrastructure construction in eastern districts including yantian, longgang, pingshan new area and dapeng new area, accounting for 52.79 percent of total investment on transportation infrastructure.
the comprehensive transportation system will enable people living in the eastern area to access the city’s fast transportation network in 10 minutes, or reach cbds in dongguan, huizhou and shanwei in an hour.
besides nine roads such as the banyin passage, eastern border crossing expressway, the pingyan passage, and outer ring expressway, which are under construction, the city is planning an extension of cuizhu road, phase ii of danping expressway, the shenzhen section of huiyan expressway and expansion of jihe expressway.
