the city's public works bureau will spend 7.5 billion yuan (us$1.14 billion) this year to ensure the completion of over 30 public construction projects in 2016, the shenzhen economic daily reported yesterday.
the bureau head, yu baoming, said the bureau took charge of 161 public construction projects with an investment of 6.5 billion yuan in 2015. eight construction projects on campuses and six health-care projects were completed, while 41 other school projects and 13 hospital projects are ongoing.
five affordable housing projects and seven infrastructure maintenance projects were completed last year, while eight social welfare projects and 38 basic amenity projects are underway. the construction project of sun yat-sen cardiovascular hospital won the second prize of a national construction engineering competition.
yu said the bureau will try to ensure the completion of 30 public construction projects in 2016, involving an investment of up to 7.5 billion yuan, while the construction of 33 other projects will be sped up.
the bureau will enhance government transparency and expand the public's participation in public works initiatives.
it will also adopt the building information modeling techniques to improve the construction's quality and efficiency, according to the daily report.
