china southern airlines will open two new international routes from shenzhen to dubai via wuhai, and direct to sydney on tuesday and jan. 27, a news conference heard friday.
the flight to dubai will take 11 hours and 35 minutes.
the flight to dubai will run every tuesday, thursday and saturday. it leaves shenzhen at 12 p.m. and arrives at dubai at 9:05 p.m. with a 90-minute stop-over in wuhan. the return flight leaves dubai at 10:45 p.m. and arrives at shenzhen 1:25 p.m. the following day.
the sydney route will take 9 hours 20 minutes.
the flight to sydney will run three times each week. it will depart at 7:10 p.m. every wednesday, sunday and at 8:00 p.m. every friday and arrive at sydney the following day. the flight from sydney departs at 9:30 a.m. every wednesday and sunday, and at 10 a.m. saturday.
shenzhen travelers to australia and new zealand can choose flights to melbourne, brisbane, auckland, perth, keynes, or christchurch from guangzhou for more options.
in 2015, the airline opened routes to mauritius, tokyo, osaka, ho chi-minh city and bali island, bringing the total international routes from shenzhen to 11.
earlier this month, shenzhen airlines opened a route from shenzhen to tokyo. air china will open a route from shenzhen to los angeles via beijing on friday.
the opening of the four international routes is part of an internationalization effort by shenzhen. ninety percent of the tickets to dubai and sydney have sold out. the seats for the feb. 3 flight to sydney are fully booked.
