an exhibition specially designated for drones, both for civilian and military uses, will be held at the universiade sports center stadium during the china hi-tech fair (chtf), which runs from today to saturday.
it is the first time for chtf organizer to set up a subvenue for drones in its 17-year history.
visitors to the venue in longgang district starting tuesday will be able to see hundreds of drones with price tags ranging from thousands of yuan to millions of yuan.
for the first time, the china drone conference, which was started in 2006 in beijing, will be held in shenzhen.
the conference, which integrates seminars, exhibitions and business transactions, is regarded as the most influential event in the unmanned plane industry. according to the organizer, a police drone skill contest will also be held during the fair.
"we hope shenzhen will take the chance of the chtf to enhance its competitiveness in the drone industry,"sun baiyuan, of the china unmanned system industry alliance, said yesterday. shenzhen now has more than 100 drone companies.
the organizer has arranged shuttle buses to run between the shenzhen convention and exhibition center, the main venue, and the subvenue in longgang.
visitors will have free rides with chtf tickets.
another separate venue designated for robots opened to professional visitors in hall 1 of section b of the shenzhen civic center yesterday. the exhibition, which will last 15 days, showcases cutting-edge robots for commercial use.
shenzhen now has hundreds of manufacturers in the robot industry whose industrial volume reaches 48 billion yuan (us$7.54 billion) a year.
this year's high-tech fair covers an area of 150,000 square meters. around 3,000 exhibitors from 80 countries will attend the six-day event, the organizer said at a news conference yesterday.
