china's first printmaking museum opened sunday in the printmakers' village in guanlan subdistrict, longhua new area, the daily sunshine reported.
nearly 300 officials, scholars and artists from home and abroad attended the opening ceremony. two printmaking exhibitions were held, featuring about 600 works by more than 80 artists.
the china printmaking museum is the first of its kind in the nation and it offers a new platform for exhibitions of the art form, academic exchanges and art education seminars, said the museum's curator, wu changjiang, who is also the party chief with china artists association.
dan welden, a printmaker from the united states, donated one of his works to the museum. he said that the museum is fabulous and that it would be a great honor for artists to have their works exhibited in it.
the museum is open to the public free of charge. to get there, people can use its chinese name for reference: guanlan banhua jidi (观澜版画基地).
a two-day forum that concludes today attracted 50 chinese artists and 22 artists from 17 countries and regions, including the united states, brazil, japan, argentina and germany.
they shared experiences about the establishment and development of printmaking institutions and discussed the status quo and future development of printmaking at an international level.
