shenzhen was rated the best city for logistics services among 60 chinese cities, according to a survey released by china (shenzhen) international logistics and transportation fair, which opened yesterday.
the survey was conducted through questionnaires at www.sojump.com and interviews by www.idiaoyan.com that covered different aspects regarding logistics services, including governmental policies, services, financial incentives, infrastructure, human resources, cargo transportation capabilities, tolls and intelligence services.
shenzhen gained a comprehensive score of 78.9, beating out second-ranked shanghai and third-ranked guangzhou.
the report attributes the development of the logistics industry in shenzhen to its quickly growing service industry and the transformation of its manufacturing industry in the past few years.
the three-day fair at shenzhen convention and exhibition center is expected to attract 100,000 visitors. more than 1,300 exhibitors — mainly representatives of ports and logistics and courier companies — from 40 countries and regions will showcase their achievements in energy efficiency, courier services and e-commerce.
shenzhen has been considered a model city in the construction of the e-commerce sector since 2009; its number of transactions since then have maintained an annual growth rate of 50 percent. in 2013, the total amount of money spent locally on e-commerce transactions reached 951 billion yuan (us$155 billion), an increase of 51 percent over the previous year, accounting for 9 percent of the country's total. the size of shenzhen's logistics industry ranks second only to shanghai's.
at present, more than 550 enterprises and 60,000 employees engage in express delivery services.
