shenzhen ranks first among 287 cities in china in terms of economic, cultural, social and environmental health, according to a report released by the institute for urban and environmental studies, chinese academy of social sciences, on wednesday.
the top 10 cities on the list are shenzhen, shanghai, beijing, foshan, suzhou, zhongshan, hangzhou, zhuhai, wuxi and nanjing.
china has an increasing number of megacities with growing populations and booming economies, but along with that progress has come a series of problems, including a deteriorating environment, worsening traffic and skyrocketing housing prices, according to the report.
the report said internal development in the megacities is unbalanced, which needs to be corrected.
