shenzhen has established an international sister city entrepreneurs club to boost economic and trade cooperation and exchange between shenzhen and its sister cities around the world.
shenzhen has established relationships with 57 cities across 37 countries and regions, including houston, barcelona, brisbane, nuremberg, vienne, turin, haifa and kingston, according to the city's foreign affairs office.
the club will provide assistance to club members to expand their overseas markets and facilitate exchanges of information, capital, technology and human resources.
in addition, club members will be informed of the latest information about investment, trade, technological cooperation, merging and financing by shenzhen and its sister cities. they can advertise their products and services to seek partners via the club.
the foreign affairs office said the club is the first of its kind in china and that some well-known, shenzhen-based enterprises have expressed their intentions to join, including byd, konka and hytera, who have all seen some success in the global market already.
in addition, several other small and medium-sized enterprises have expressed willingness to join the club.
as a nonprofit, nonincorporated organization, the club will be guided by the foreign affairs office and shenzhen's international chamber of commerce. professionals will be invited to serve as counselors.
the establishment of the club is part of shenzhen's ongoing efforts to become an international metropolis. the foreign affairs office also plans to hold a conference in minsk, capital of belarus, this year, regarding increasing trade between the two cities.
shenzhen and minsk became sister cities in january this year.
the office is also planning to invite youth from shenzhen's sister cities to a summer camp this year.
