shenzhen and macao have signed two documents to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade and tourism.
one of the agreements calls for the two cities to organize entrepreneurs and professionals to visit each other frequently.
shenzhen will encourage more macao enterprises in fields including finance, medical care and logistics, and service institutions in fields including law and architecture design, to seek development in the qianhai area adjacent to nanshan district.
the two cities also are planning deepened cooperation in tourism, shenzhen economic daily reported friday.
macao's chief executive, chui sai on, said at a thursday meeting with shenzhen mayor xu qin that the two cities will gradually expand cooperation in culture, education and areas concerning people's well-being.
xu said closer cooperation will benefit both cities.
"macao plays a unique and important role in boosting exchange and cooperation between china and portuguese-speaking countries," xu said, adding that shenzhen hopes to strengthen its cooperation with portuguese-speaking countries through macao.
shenzhen's imports from macao grew more than 60 percent last year. the city's direct investments in macao nearly tripled last year compared with 2012. the number of macao-invested projects in shenzhen jumped by almost 60 percent last year, compared with 2012.
